Patrick McDonnell is a figurative artist, trained in the old master's techniques elaborated by Jacques Maroger head of the Louvre museum laboratories. Jacques Maroger discovered the secret of how old master painters used mastic resin and bee's wax with oil paint.
Studied pastel painting with Edith and Richard Goetz at Goetz Art School. Here is a link to their work.
Studied oil painting in France, Germany and New Mexico using the Jacques Maroger Medium with Mr. Siegfried Hahn ( Mr Hahn was awarded the Royal Academy’s Turner Gold Medal) and Mr. Howard Wexler (Parson's School of Design). See samples of Hahn's art.
Awarded Hallmark Cards student scholarship to attend the Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida.

Studied in Paris at the only figurative studio in the Ecole des Beaux Arts and was accepted into the Paris Ecole des Arts Decoratifs after passing a concours. Studied with Jean Le Feuvre, retired academic teacher at Beaux Art.
Awarded The Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship by the Fondation des Etats-Unis to live and work in an Artist's studio in the Cité Universitaire, Paris France.
Created prints in the etching and engraving studio of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
Studied the collection of the Cabinet des Estampes (Print Collection) of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France that houses an incredible collection of Rembrandt, Goya etc. artist proofs and prints.
Official copyist at Louvre museum in Pairs where he copied paintings by Mantegna, Rembrandt and Ingres
Passed different Beaux Arts examinations based on actually work done in studios; History of Art, Artistic Morphology, Mosaic, Fresco, etc... to obtain an equivalence of a French Bachelor's Degree from the University of Paris.
Awarded a Master of Arts degree in medical illustration from the University of Texas,Health Science Center in Dallas. Attended medical courses with medical students, including gross anatomy with dissections. Studied in a PhD program in communication (Combined program at University of Montreal, University of Quebec in Montreal, University of Concordia).
